EXPERIENCE

  • Perform capacity planning and financial models to predict outcome of computer utilization and software costs.
  • Prepare management presentations for capacity planning.
  • Prepare reports and papers to support decision recommendations.
  • Create project plans to implement recommended solutions.
  • Work with development teams to resolve performance and application problems.
  • Work with a variety of technologies: z/Series, z/OS, OS/390, Sysplex, Linux, Windows, CICS TS, VTAM, TCP/IP, COBOL, MS Office, SAS, MXG, BMC Mainview Predict, Visual Basic, gcc, gtk, Oracle.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Recommended replacement software for cost reduction. Participated in vendor selection team. Planned conversion project, installed software, conducted vendor training. This project resulted in a savings of $900,000 over 3 years.

  • Participated in Proof-of-Concept, Trial Installation, Benchmark, and other mini-projects to ensure that vendor technologies are properly demonstrated and analyzed before purchase commitments are made. Create comparison criteria, weightings, and assign scores based on measurements to ensure that vendor product evaluation is objective and comparable.

  • Planned for and implemented new software releases while minimizing impact on end users through notification, scheduling and training.

  • Ensured that application schedules, business schedules, and prerequisite and co-requisite software was installed and tested. Identified affected groups to ensure awareness and participation in projected changes.

  • Incrementally reduced outages through problem-source identification and root-cause determination. Applied permanent solutions to ensure that problems do not reoccur.

  • Ensured that data collection and analysis processes are in-place, automated, and monitored. Data analysis tools automatically create charts for web presentation for use by management. Use charts to discover and correct problem hot-spots as well as observe trends and patterns in system usage.

  • Kept abreast of trends, directions, and technical developments. Communicated key trends to management.

  • Monitored and projected mainframe capacity to ensure that capacity needs were met without excessive capacity based software costs.

  • Planned and tracked project to upgrade 130+ CICS regions to new version while maintaining 99.99% scheduled availability. Kept management aware of changes in project status. Plan and track project to upgrade IMS systems to Version 9.

  • Supported and advised technical and application developers on front-end and middle-ware connections to back-end legacy systems. Work with vendors and developers to resolve problems with Java, gateway, and other connection software.

  • Prepare spin-off division for Disaster Recovery through project planning and knowledge transfer.
